Yesterday Nate asked me, "Can you get married again so Daddy can come home?" So I explained to him that his dad and I got married a long time ago and we don't need to do it again. Then we made a countdown chain. It is a lot longer than I want it to be, but at least it will just get smaller every day!
I also got out Andrew's link toys. Nate wanted to see if they would float so he took them into the bathroom and filled up the sink. It's nice when kids are curious about things that are harmless like that!

GREAT IDEA! It is really hard on kids sometimes when daddy is gone for so long. It is good for them to have a visual to help them see when he is coming home. When one of my friends husband left on west pac she bought her daughter a new DVD every month, so the little girl new when she got her 6th DVD it was almost time for daddy to come home. Nick will start deploying again in about a year, I will have to keep your chain in mind for my girls.
I think that you are such a good mom Naomi : ). I always loved making those chains at Christmas time when I was little! I love how kids are so curious as well. I can't wait to see what my own kids will be curious about someday : ).
It is so funny the way kids think sometimes! Poor guy....and all of you too!! ;) I know Emilie is going to have a really hard time when Jacob has to leave again! She is such a daddy's girl! Can't wait for the military free days.....
I love kids logic! I needed my visual when my husband was gone too. Somehow I think it makes it go a little faster when you can see the countdown get smaller each day. You guys take care!
Leah's daughter did an expirement involving a stirofoam cup, hand soap, and something else like salt or something. I can't remember. She came out of the bathroom very upset. When we questioned her about her experiment she said, very disappointed, "It didn't explode." I love how kids' minds think.
hey that is a way neat idea, how clever. when does he come home? and kids are so cute and adorble when they want to "experiment" with different things, hope all is well.
